Bridget Irvine

Bridget is a Senior Associate in our Dispute Resolution and Litigation Team.

Bridget advises clients on a diverse range of matters, including contract, land, and employment disputes. Her experience extends beyond the courtroom to alternative forms of dispute resolution, including mediation and judicial settlement conferences.

Bridget has a particular interest in employment matters, and acts for both individual employees, unions, and companies. She has experience dealing with personal grievances, Holidays Act 2003 disputes, and employment agreements and policies.

Bridget began her career as an academic at the University of Otago where she completed her PhD. She draws on her extensive research experience to provide advice on complex and novel issues.

Recent work includes:

  • Appeared in the Supreme Court as junior counsel for Peter Ellis’s miscarriage of justice case;
  • Advised a large national organisation on its compliance with a new legislative framework in respect of land ownership;
  • Advised a large national union on complex parental leave and holiday pay matters; and
  • Assisted an employer in developing an employee travel policy following the opening of the Trans-Tasman travel bubble.
